黃敏力 Wong Man Lik (6C) People tend to have the nature of selective ignorance. To exemplify, from well within their spans of knowledge, they clearly and undoubtedly realize and understand the absurd amount of environmental impact that air-conditioning creates. Yet, for their personal comfort and well-being, they would subconsciously put on the blindfold of ignorance and start justifying for their actions against the environment with rationales such as how subtle and insignificant their personal efforts are, and would be negligible to the fate of the humanity. Thus, begin to overuse air-conditioning. My speech is therefore to remind how if everyone complies in this way is catastrophic to the humanity and how this also works in reverse that our many individual contributions, when accumulated, can also save the humanity from this looming calamity.
