陳彥喬 Chan Yin Kiu Adeline (Form 5) "How do I become a public speaker?" I was invited to join the English Public Speaking Club two years ago with my friends. To my surprise, I've joined the club and become speakers representing my school.

The fear of Public Speaking is something I have battled myself for many years. I used to be terrified of speaking in groups or speaking in class, I can still remember I was always nervous as I felt like I was going to die. I can't deny that the training was tough. But my friends and I have overcome the difficulties. I am also very pleased and honoured to have become the founding president of our school Pentecoastal Lam Hon Kwong School's Toastmaster International Youth Leadership Program. It is an effective and internationally recognized program that boosts our public speaking confidence in just a few months. I have benefited from this Toastmasters program. I truly believe public speaking is a lifetime investment.
卓少韜 Cheuk Siu To Kyle (Form 5) I am the vice president of my school's public speaking club. I think I have been totally transformed because of public speaking. When I was a primary school student, I was shy and was very reluctant to talk to anybody. Not until when I was a Form 3 student, I was amazed by the applause given to the public speakers in our school, so I decided to join the public speaking team. After the one-year training, I finally can participate in inter-school public speaking contests and I got prizes and awards.

This year, I am honoured to have a chance to join the Toastmasters International Youth Leadership Program at school and have become the Vice President Education of this program. I learnt a lot of public speaking skills such as using body gestures to enhance communication and adding humor to the speech to attract the audience. Through joining and organizing the Program meetings, I also found it fun and rewarding as it train up my leadership too.
劉遵賢 Lau Chun Yin Joel (Form 5) I think public speaking is very useful. It helps me a lot. For example, I have improved my writing skills like ideas organization and choice of words when I wrote my speeches. I also boost my own confidence by presenting myself in the public. I remember when I was small, I couldn't even dare to say hello to strangers. But now, I have joined public speaking club and I have the courage to deliver a speech to the public!

Public speaking is a life-time investment. Our school has provided us with opportunities to join and organize Toastmasters International Youth Leadership Program. As a Sergeant-At-Arm of this program, I found that public speaking club is not only a place where we could raise our English standard, but it is also a place where leaders are born. In the program, we got chances to make prepared speeches and impromptus speeches. We will also give constructive feedback to each other through the evaluation sessions. As a leader in this program, I also facilitate different students to make good speeches. I organize good quality meetings and give them feedback to help them improve their public speaking. I think it is a very meaningful activity.
