譚隽韬 Victor Tam (9H2)Originally, I joined public speaking 5 years ago because I thought it was a useful skill to have in life. Since then, I have practised public speaking at school and in competitions, and overall, I am an extremely confident speaker who is able to do a presentation in front of more than 200 people. Mainly, I hope I can attract more attention to certain issues which haven't been solved or simply ignored. By doing so, I really hope I can bring change to the world using only my words, because as people say, "Words have power."
鄧曉臨 Naomi Hiu Lam (10Q2) I think that public speaking is enjoyable because it helps me to develop my thoughts and opinions as a global citizen. It gets me to think about the issues that mean the most. Public speaking allows me to tell others what I feel strongly about and why - and even then, I can put in a joke or two! A speech can be used to persuade, inspire, motivate… and more. It can be moving or lighthearted or passionate, depending on the topic. The freedom of choice is really what makes public speaking so much fun.
王潔瀛 Selena Wang (9S1) Recently I've been increasingly passionate for debate and public speech, even more so since the frustrating loss on Saturday. I want to take advantage of my current drive to improve to win, and this would be even more advantageous in light of my admitted lack of regular experience thus far. To put it briefly, I'd like to improve through experience and training until I can win, so please consider me for the competition.
