Dear YTL,

Is it correct to say "In my city, people have a long lunch break."? My
concern is obviously I don't own the city, so it seems to be a problem
to use "my city", but if I say "In the city where I was born and grew
up, ...", then I think it is kind of too complex. What do you think?

Thanks for your help! and also thanks for making this helpful radio program!

Cheers,
Tim Q. Huang

'In my city ' is perfectly ok , or 'in my country ' , 'in my village '.

Mr. Yang,

請問 ensure 和 assure 有可分別? 是否 ensure 不要用 object,? 而 assure 就一定要 object 呢?

謝謝!

Kat

assure - 保証 , 使.....確信
I assure you I did not take away your book .
He assures me everything will be OK
ensure - 保証 , 確保
His new book ensures his success .
Please ensure all lights are
switched off when you leave .
兩字意思十分接近,但並不百分百相同 .
